Home MaintenanceBuild Note 01Draft
Giving the Today view a calmer sense of priority
A home can generate an endless list of things to remember. I’m exploring how the app can make that work feel finite, understandable, and possible to finish.
What I’m exploring
Maintenance tools can become another source of pressure when every task is presented with the same urgency. The Today view needs to answer a simpler question: what is worth doing now, and what can wait?
The current direction separates small, approachable actions from the items that genuinely need attention.
Decision so far
I’m using three layers of commitment: a short “Take a 10” action, a way to record work that is already complete, and a focused list of tasks that need a decision.
The goal is to make progress visible without making the interface feel like an accumulating list of failures.
What I’m watching next
- How the hierarchy holds up when the task list becomes much longer.
- Whether “Later” and “Skip” feel meaningfully different.
- How due dates should change tone as a task becomes more consequential.
